"At age 58 I have been exercising for 30 + years and I am extremely fit, so what did I want with a personal trainer? However, I had always been disappointed with my lack of "abs" and then I read Andy's monthly newsletter. I was impressed by his depth and variety of knowledge, so I booked a session to get advice on "ab creation". I now have sessions with Andy where he changes my schedule to keep me on my toes, and he doesn't finish the session until he is sure I am exercising correctly with good, solid technique. Andy also provides me with copies of our workouts as an "aide-memoire" to follow by myself. "When I started training with Andy at the beginning of the year I had never heard of kettlebells. Then one weekend, Andy was unable to book any sessions because he was away on kettlebell training, but he assured me that the sessions would be "even more fun" (I quote directly) when he got back.
The following week I found out what a kettlebell was and I have been using them in sessions with Andy ever since. Kettlebells look like some kind of medieval instrument of torture and it is truly amazing how many different types of exercises they can be used for. At first using one was very alarming because I was convinced that it would fly out of my hand, but that hasn't happened (yet!)
Andy is very, very enthusiastic about kettlebells and that enthusiasm does get passed on. The main thing about them is that they work BRILLIANTLY. I have lost weight and gone down a dress size which is all to the good.

"I had surgery on my shoulder in January of this year, and despite having physiotherapy I was still getting pain in the joint during exercise. I decided to see if a Personal Trainer could help and so I approached Andy. We had a free consultation where we discussed my problems and my goals, and after this I decided to do some training with Andy straight away. The difference to my fitness has been amazing and after only 4 weeks I had no pain in my shoulder. "I was approached by Andy whilst I wheezed away on the treadmill during another fruitless self-styled gym workout. He seemed interested and enthusiastic in helping me with my aim of losing weight and toning up, so I took Andy up on a free consultation. It came just at the right time as I had just had a cholesterol test which showed things were heading towards the abnormal range. On the night before our consultation, Andy phoned as promised to remind me, which I think showed his commitment. I was a bit nervous when we started the consultation, but his kind manner put me at ease. He took the time to find out what I wanted to achieve and was sensitive to my embarrassment about my body fat. After listening to Andy's plans to get me into shape we arranged a program consisting of 10 sessions. Andy always called me the night before a session to see how I was and tell me about the workout he had in store for me the next day. He also introduced me to the stress relieving properties of boxing. Andy showed me lots of exercises which I could do even without gym equipment, so I could replicate some of the workout at home. Each week he would push me until the words "now get to 18" started to resound in my head!! He seemed to enjoy my mutterings when I would liken him to a fascist dictator in the vain hope that he would ease up, but it only pandered to his "dark side" and made him push me even more!! Well I must say the I reaped the results. My body fat has reduced from a podgy 23% to a leaner 15%. Furthermore I feel more confident and committed to lose more, I would recommend Andy Wolstenholme as a Personal Trainer as he not only "talks the talk" but also "walks the walk". He has offered me a free re-measure in 3 weeks time. Lets see whether I meet "kind Andy" or his "dark side"!"
